We are excited to announce the appointment of Ian Hunter to the role of General Manager at VetSouth.
Hailing from the North of England, Yorkshireman Ian has spent the last couple of decades managing and leading operational teams and businesses in a variety of industries across NZ. This has included GM roles at Toycomm Auto Recyclers, Canterbury Aluminium Ltd, B&D Doors NZ Ltd, and Lion Nathan. He was also GM of Operations at Kiwicare Corporation Ltd; headed up Veritide and Chequer Packaging, and was owner-operator of Canterbury Leather International Ltd.
His educational achievements are equally impressive, having gained a BSc with combined Honours in Chemistry and Geology; a Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from Oxford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He was also previously a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.
So, why VetSouth and what does he hope to bring to the business?
“VetSouth is a really interesting and varied business with passionate and dedicated teams. It has some amazing systems and processes, but also lots of opportunities for further development and improvement.
“I want to continue the strategy and grow the momentum generated by Mark Bryan; align our goals, and help to develop the leaders in the business to enable VetSouth to be so much more than the sum of its individual parts.
“Taking things from “good to great” is something I aspire to do whenever I lead a team.”
Outside of his great plans for VetSouth, Ian is also keen to explore Southland after having recently made the move down from Christchurch. As a passionate motorcyclist and a keen runner, Ian is looking forward to the extra space and quieter pace that the South has to offer.
Ian will be based in the VetNZ office in Invercargill, but will be regularly travelling between all of our VetSouth clinics. We hope you will join us in welcoming him to the team!
