Meet the vet flock: Caitlyn

VetSouth mixed animal vet Caitlyn Bell shares some insights into working with a variety of animals.

Hi, I’m Caitlyn, a mixed animal vet based around Winton and Invercargill. I have been with VetSouth for nearly 2 years now, after graduating over the ditch in North Queensland at James Cook University in 2021.

I took the leap and moved to NZ without having visited before and, after the initial climate shock, sunny and snowy Southland has grown on me!

Working with a range of animals

Being a mixed vet, my days are never the same and I get to enjoy a wide range of species and jobs to do. I love my outdoor work most, with a good mix of horses, sheep and cattle work, but I still love seeing your small animals in-clinic or out on-farm too.

Client relationships

I am passionate about building up relationships with all my clients, so I am always around and keen for a chat.

One of my roles is to cover our satellite clinics in Otautau or Lumsden, so you might even see my face out there.

I am excited to meet a few more faces in this coming season while out on our Ram Run and Dog Runs and completing our OviGOLD client visits.

Outside the clinic

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring NZ's beautiful outdoors in my little campervan; finding nice hikes, or sneaking in a cheeky wine tasting!

I hope you all managed to get a few days off over Christmas and New Year and I will hopefully see you on-farm soon...
